The Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) is the regulator for financial services in Jersey.

Responsible for regulating, developing and supervising the Island’s financial services industry, they aim to deliver balanced, progressive, risk-based financial regulation, built on insight, integrity and expertise.

Their mission is to maintain Jersey's position as a leading international finance centre, with high regulatory standards, whilst adhering to their guiding principles which are:

  • Reducing risk to the public of financial loss due to dishonesty, incompetence, malpractice or the financial unsoundness of financial service providers
  • Protecting and enhancing the reputation and integrity of Jersey in commercial and financial matters
  • Safeguarding the best economic interests of Jersey
  • Countering financial crime both in Jersey and elsewhere

The role

The Director of Supervisory Strategy and Oversight will support the Director of Supervision by leading the Authorisations, Examinations, Regulatory Maintenance and Pooled Supervision teams.

Deputising for the Director of Supervision as required, they will be responsible for identifying, prioritising and effectively implementing operational developments and improvements across Supervision. They will also be responsible for developing a risk-based approach to authorisation and supervision, through process efficiencies, technological development and allocation of resourcing.

In addition to liaising with and developing strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, the Director of Supervisory Strategy and Oversight will represent the JFSC as required in engagements with the Government of Jersey, relevant representative bodies, international organisations and prospective and registered entities. They will also be responsible for delivering industry updates as required.

The role will be based in Jersey.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • A strong knowledge of the financial services industry and financial regulation
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement skills at a senior level 
  • Excellent judgement and decision making, problem solving, relationship building and communication.
