Our retained client is a large scale, UK headquartered media group.

  • Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Director will lead all business facing-elements of the Finance function for these key business areas.
  • Partnering with the Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer, the FD will be responsible for supporting all commercial and operational decisions.
  • The finance back office functions will be centralised for the group, allowing the FD role to focus on the commercial, strategic and operational decision of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all of the UK revenues of the business, including daily, weekly and monthly reporting against targets.
  • You will partner with the Chief Marketing Officer in implementing the marketing strategy for the group, guiding on best return on investment. Additionally, you will support the Enterprise business which derives revenue from partnerships and innovative adjacent business models.
  • Own budgets, forecasts and KPIs for your business areas.
  • Assist the CFO in challenging, supporting and driving success through key areas of the business and including engagement with board level directors.
  • Leading projects, supporting decisions through high quality analysis and data and improving the business areas that you support
  • As part of the Finance leadership team, you will work with the CFO to help deliver the financial strategy of the business, including developing short and long term financial plans, setting and assessing KPIs and helping the business to achieve its objectives.
  • In additional, you will help to implement the people plan for the Finance function, including training and development.
  • You will lead a finance team of approx. of 15-20 people, helping them to develop and deliver an excellent level of service and support to the business.
  • You will maintain the highest level of financial management and controls to support your business areas. This will include all budgeted, forecasting and management reporting.
  • You’ll look to challenge the status quo, drive change and champion new innovative ways of doing things to improve the finance function.
  • You will use data, analysis and high quality management reporting to guide the business to make the best decisions.
  • You will lead and participate in key projects, potentially including M&A, supplier negotiations, strategic reviews and business development plans.
  • Working with the Group Financial Controller, you will look to implement and improve financial controls, ensure high quality accounting practices and drive efficiencies through finance and the wider business.
  • You will help manage key external relationships including banks, external auditors and key suppliers

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with a proven track record of career progression in a large, dynamic organisation
  • Developed business partnering relationships at a board level within an organisation
  • Significant experience working in a relevant finance role, at a senior level.
  • Media or advertising experience an advantage, but not a pre-requisite.
  • You will have managed and developed people with a wide range of different levels of seniority, including a team of at least 15 people
  • A track record of driving change, improvement and challenge through an organisation or department.
