Our client is a regulated business, generating revenue of circa £250million.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the CEO, you will be an integral member of the senior management team.
  • A leading role in the management of relationships with equity and debt providers
  • Develop and formalise robust financial control and reporting systems and develop a finance team to support the growth of the business.
  • Overall leadership of the finance function, ensuring the group can deliver its strategic vision and deliver best in class financial reporting solutions  
  • Significant contribution to the business strategy and operational initiatives, ensuring finance infrastructure can support the delivery of the strategic objectives
  • Develop and maintain banking relationships to ensure the business can access the most relevant capital structures in relation to transactions
  • Overall responsibility for corporate governance including internal and external audit including the regulator
  • Establishment and maintenance of strong internal control and risk management systems
  • Responsibility for financial statements and management reporting, ensuring that these are of the highest standard
  • Leadership of M&A activity including opportunity analysis, decision support and liaison with third parties
  • Manage pricing and tenders, demonstrating sound commercial judgement
  • Support growth activities by assessing the models and communicating opportunities for optimization of results and operational implications
  • Proactively identify financial issues and advise on key issues of growth, investment and profitability
  • Monitor direct expenses and test affordability of plans including project spends as well as managing costs and potential savings
  • Extensive financial planning and analysis. Budget setting, cost management and forecasting
  • Treasury, cash flow and balance sheet management
  • Manage and oversee tax strategy in an ever changing regulatory environment
  • Management of close relationships with external advisors
  • Close collaboration with the CEO on the investor relations agenda

Requirements:

  • A mix of hands-on operational experience in the regulated industries combined with strategic/commercial experience at board level.
  • Experience in high growth businesses with different functional divisions would be advantageous.
  • Graduate qualified chartered accountant (big 4 preferred) with significant post qualification and first class academic background
  • Experience in a senior finance leadership role
  • Balanced, rounded experience across all areas of finance, including financial reporting and commercial financial leadership
  • Investor relations experience. Experience of working with a wide range of investors
  • Strong network with equity providers and banks, developing and maintaining strong contacts
  • Track record of developing talent and creating environments of capable, proactive and adaptable teams
  • Able to drive results by defining goals and establishing clear priorities to achieve objectives
  • Experience of successfully implementing effective growth and optimization strategies
  • Experience of developing financial strategies and contributing to the broader commercial development of a business
  • Highly commercial, with proven experience of adding value to businesses
  • Low ego, self-aware and non-political leadership style; willing to give and receive feedback with evidence of strong empathy
  • A credible, trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Team, who can support and challenge.

Location: Gloucestershire

Salary: circa £200,000 (pro rata) + benefits package
