Job Details

Our client, a well-respected £1bn+ Infrastructure Services Group works on behalf of major public sector and blue-chip private clients throughout the UK, delivering critical installation, upgrade and repair and maintenance infrastructure services programmes. They have an impressive track record of highly progressive and profitable growth, achieved  organically and through strategic acquisitions, resulting in the need for a number of key appointments to their executive team, to ensure the robustness and future scalability of the business.

Their fastest growing division, with a turnover between £100-200m, is now seeking a commercially minded Finance Director to lead their Financial and Commercial teams in maximising the overall financial performance of the business. To be considered, candidates must:

  • demonstrate where they have significantly improved the financial performance and profitability of a construction contracting business with a £70m+ turnover;
  • have operated at a strategic level - capable of contributing to strategy and strategic projects, including due diligence, acquisition and integration;
  • be highly competent in all areas of financial control & governance, with a strong working knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, audit requirements, the completion of statutory accounts and risk management;
  • be able to construct detailed market, business and project analysis and present alternative models for management review, including process improvement, ‘best in class’ commercial finance reporting and tender pricing;
  • protect the commercial position of the business and promote robust financial management through; cashflow and margin improvement plans, management of material and subcontract procurement, and ensuring supply-chain commercial administration is compliant with all legal and tax requirements;
  • have the gravitas, entrepreneurial and presentation skills to lead a large team of up to 40 financial and commercial professionals (not all direct), to facilitate team briefings, to challenge traditional methods and develop a culture continually in pursuit of performance improvement;
  • you should also enjoy working in a fast pace and data intense environment, be highly ambitious for personal and business growth, and should also be CIMA qualified, with advanced Excel and Oracle ERP skills.
