My prestigious insurer is on the lookout for a confident automation specialist to join the IT Platforms team in a newly created Head of Automation role.

The role holder will lead the Automation and Robotics technology workstream, supporting UK wide transformation and my clients UK strategy. This will involve steering and championing the use of various automation techniques to deliver operational, productivity and efficiency gains across the wider business.

We are looking for someone to support the business to identify, implement and drive the business process, robotic process and process automation using a range of leading technologies. This role is critical to providing IT leadership and transformational capabilities through the implementation of leading technology and solutions. You will be expected to partner with the CIO, Transformation team and business leads to identify, develop and execute transformation capabilities to enhance commercial and service objectives and provide outstanding IT and operational capabilities. We are looking for someone who can challenge the 'Status Quo' is friendly and approachable and has a collaborative approach to their work.

Responsibilities:

Accountable for leading the Application Development & Maintenance (AD&M) teams and functions supporting Automation and Robotics.

Support UK business leads in driving commercial performance, delivering operational stability and resilience and leading platform/technical roadmaps to maintain, enhance and transform the business through implementing world-class automation.

Develop the automation strategy to deliver this specific component of the Enterprise Architecture roadmap, driving re-use, standardisation and remediation of technical debt.

Lead the delivery of customer-centric, platform-level design, supporting low-cost retail-style business operations.

Guide the design, development and implementation of platform changes to deliver business change that aligns with CIO roadmaps and is consistent with Enterprise Architecture standards.

Deliver platform services that meet/exceed operational standards and integrity/security requirements.

Identify, agree and progress innovation (technology, standards/methods, architecture). Align activities with the direction/standards driven by Platform Centre of Excellence.

Lead the Platform team and provide leadership and support to local market resources - work with other IT teams to build effective & efficient platform capability.

Identify, own and manage the specific key risks and/or IT controls and standards that you are identified as the owner and/or nominee for.

Skills and Experience:

Significant experience in managing sophisticated IT deliveries within large, complex organisations.

Proven experience in delivering new automation capabilities at scale, relating to both automating business processes, digital workforce development and Robotic Process Automation.

Demonstrable leadership and people management capabilities.

Can bring high degrees of agility, resourcefulness, influence, execution in building talent and teams and the desire to reinvent/challenge.

Strong knowledge of Agile principles and how they should be applied to support efficient delivery.

Excellent relationship management and communication skills - confident when engaging with c-suite and executive leadership.
