This is an opportunity to contribute to the community within Stratford-upon-Avon by becoming an Academy Ambassador at South Warwickshire Academy Trust. Board meetings are held at CV37 9LD when safe to do so.

The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at academy trusts throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.

The opportunity

The South Warwickshire Academy Trust is a Single Academy Trust (SAT) based in Stratford-upon-Avon. The trust is currently seeking one new member and two non-executive directors to assist in the transferring of the academy to another trust, followed by the dissolution of the South Warwickshire Academy Trust as planned by September 2021. Board meetings are held at CV37 9LD when safe to do so.

The board seeks two business leaders with board level experience in

Trustee roles:
  • human resources or
  • corporate governance

Member role:
  • CFO/ Finance
  • non-executive/ trustee
  • corporate governance

As a key member of either the member or trust board you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12 - 24 months:
  • To manage Covid plans for the school;
  • The trust aims to transfer Welcombe Hills School to another trust with effect from 1st September 2021.;
  • To effectively manage due diligence and TUPE staff to the new trust;
  • The trust aims to maintain rigorous and robust governance throughout these next stages.

What's involved?

Board governance in education is a strategic, 'eyes on, hands off' commitment which typically involves attending c. six board meetings per year/6-8 hours' time per month (trustee role) or one meeting per year (c2.5 hours) for the Member position.

You will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

As an Academy Ambassador, you will join our ambassador network which provides resources, guidance, networking events and webinars to support you in your role.
