A unique opportunity to join a local ‘not for profit’ organisation as CEO to the business.  The Leeds City Credit Union is looking for an experienced individual to help steer the organisation through the remainder of the COVID19 pandemic and to drive it into the future.

Leeds City Credit Union (LCCU) is a mutual social enterprise. It operates as a regulated financial services institution, providing savings accounts and loans for its 36,000 members. LCCU’s members are drawn from anyone who lives or works in Leeds, Wakefield, Craven or Harrogate, plus the employees and tenants of partner organisations in other parts of the country. LCU has a strong social purpose serving the community.

The CEO will work with the Board of Directors to establish strategic plans, goals, and objectives. He or she will be charged with leading the credit union towards achieving those goals, maintaining its financial strength and building on its strong relationships with partners. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, skilled leader, who can motivate, impart vision, build consensus and drive organisational growth, while continuing to deliver a first-class member service in a hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide inspired leadership within the credit union.
  • Represent the credit union to regulators, stakeholders, corporate partners, other credit unions and customers.
  • With the board, make high-level decisions about policy and strategy.
  • Advise and report to the board of directors and keep them informed.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and a strategic plan.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the credit union.
  • Develop the credit union’s culture and overall union vision.
  • Recruit and select new staff members when necessary and evaluate staff performance.
  • Create an environment that promotes great performance and positive morale.
  • Identify and address problems and opportunities for the credit union.
  • Manage and develop key third-party relationships
  • Oversee all day-to-day operations of the credit union.
  • Exercise sound financial management.

Ideally candidates should have previous experience within financial services or another highly regulated environment.

This is clearly a critical role for the organisation and you will be joining at a challenging time.  It is important for the successful individual to have the following skills:

  • Strategic thinking – the ability to create and implement long-term plans to maximise business performance
  • Commercial orientation / acumen – the ability to add value; a commercial mind-set and the ability to develop this within others
  • The ability to challenge & question results and ideas to identify issues and improve outcomes
  • Relationship skills – ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Passion, empathy and an appreciation for the social enterprise sector
  • Leadership and people management – ability to deliver results through others

The organisation is happy to consider candidates looking for full or part-time opportunities on a permanent or fixed term contract basis.
