Our client, an Multi-National Commercial Bank is looking for a Head of Credit Risk to join their team on a Permanent basis in London to assess, advise and report on all credit risks faced by the bank. Provide guidance and support to the various business units in articulating and implementing credit risk appetite and credit risk policy ensuring all relevant regulations are taken into consideration.

The Responsibilities of a Head of Credit Risk will include:
  • Assess and challenge all credit proposals in a timely manner and ensure that all proposals are in adherence to the Banks stated risk appetite, credit policies and approval authorities.
  • Ensure that all credit proposals have been appropriately vetted, with a clear focus on affordability assessment, and provide the committee with appropriate recommendations.
  • Actively cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with the business units and lead the development of credit risk policies and credit risk appetite statements to ensure that clear guidance and support is provided to the various business units. Ensure all such credit policies are reviewed on at least an annual basis.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of key credit risk management information to ensure that reports are reliable and accurate.
  • Providing regular and timely credit portfolio monitoring and analysis to inform senior management/credit committee of observations on variances/trends/actions including performance against credit risk metrics. Use internal and external data available to analyse and monitor the various portfolios and to develop strategies/recommendations to mitigate risks/losses.
  • Managing credit risk rating tools, techniques, and reports to support the business, senior management and regulatory reporting including the implementation of credit rating tools to ensure compliance with IRFS9 requirements.
  • Assisting in the completion of the ICAAP process specifically as it relates to credit risk and actively contribute to the review of the scenario analysis framework.
  • Responsible for dealing with the Loan Recovery Process, liaising with the Bank's Solicitors for pro-active case management and reporting the status to the Credit Committee on a regular basis.
  • Assisting in establishing and maintaining an effective compliance culture within the Bank for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and other forms of financial crime.

The Head of Credit Risk will have:
  • Use of MS Office suite, Equation, Bloomberg, Internet.
  • An experienced credit risk professional with in-depth knowledge of Treasury, Trade Finance, Corporate, and Retail credit products.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and principles, specifically the PRA & FCA expectations.
  • Relevant professional qualification is desirable.
