CTO - Chief Technical Officer - Head of Engineering
GBP80,000 - GBP100,000 plus bonus plus significant potential equity

This is a rare and I think very exciting opportunity to join a....
Well established, recently PE backed software tech business who are looking to transform their software Development and Operations function, therefore are looking for a new CTO to lead them into this new exciting period.
You will have the responsibility of leading two tech teams, spanning 6 software products developed over two distinct technology stacks. These teams are distributed across two UK locations but with the PE house ready to support growth, there is the opportunity to add more resource through acquisition and hiring.
They operate in a market very well positioned to thrive in our current economic and political climate and have a strong reputation in that market, one of the key things holding them back from significant growth is the technology is limiting their capability. They are now looking to sensibly invest in moving both the platforms and the processes forward.
From a technical perspective the current landscape is Microsoft and Java/Oracle - there are plans to move both platforms forward so it is important you are capable of leading multiskilled development groups. There is significant work to do in the Microsoft world so any experience of delivering Microsoft Development and Azure Dev Ops solutions will be a distinct advantage. The role reports directory to the CEO and will be a key member of the board, the previous CTO / Technology lead is exiting the business as part of the PE investment and therefore we are looking for board level vision and commercial capability, equally you will be required to work closely with the development teams so hands on architectural and process management capability is a must. This is not a just a strategy role, the role will require someone to drive and operationally support the team.
To be considered you will ideally have the following background.
Must have worked for a fast growing software house as a CTO or Head of Engineering
Have led software development teams in excess of 30 and have demonstrated scaling teams/capability up significantly
Have led significant cultural and process change within a technology environment
Have migrated legacy technology to Microsoft Azure
Have helped move a development function from customer led solutions to a product development roadmap.
Have worked with and selected development partners to deliver a collaborative solution.
Have the ability to pass SC clearance
Have a very good understanding of how to build a software solution with high degrees of security built into the platform
Experience in delivering solutions in the classified information market would be a significant advantage.
