Engage, Enrich, Excel Academies in Surrey seeks a non-executive/director to join its board. Board meetings are held at GU11 4AA when safe to do so.
The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.
The opportunity:
Engage, Enrich, Excel Academies seeks one non-executive director/charity trustee with strategic expertise in HR to chair the HR committee and oversee the development of the trust's people strategy. The trust oversees primary education for 2,250 pupils, 400 employees and a combined budget of £8.8m and invites candidates with a commitment to school improvement to help drive forward new systems and structures as the trust grows. All the schools within the trust are Ofsted rated Good or Outstanding, except for The Cambridge which is yet to be inspected and is led by CEO David Harris, a National Leader of Education.

Board governance in education is a strategic, 'eyes on, hands off' commitment which typically involves attending c. six board meetings per year/6-8 hours' time per month.

As a key member of the board you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12 - 24 months:
- Development of systems and structures throughout the trust and its schools that ensure robust accountability for standards, finance and operations
- Implementation of a new people strategy, including talent management and succession planning
- The next phase of growth to achieve long term sustainability
What's involved?

You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent
