The Company

Our client is a privately owned contracting business that specialises in the Civil Engineering Sector, with a head office in Leicestershire. The business has successfully developed across a range of areas and undertakes works on behalf of national and regional residential organisations within earthworks, groundworks, foundations, hard landscaping, drainage schemes and Infrastructure works/highways.

The Requirement

The business is looking for an experienced Sales & Commercial Director to assist in growing the company, identifying new commercial opportunities and leading on marketing activity. The Director will be responsible for developing the Sales and Marketing strategy, the targeting of new clients and markets, submission and negotiation of tenders, enhancing existing customer relationships and profitability and managing the after-sales process. The goal will be for this person to promote and expand the company’s commercial activity that will generate revenues and lead to sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth
  • Conducting market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.)
  • Promoting a positive brand using the company website, social media and external media as appropriate
  • Understanding the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met
  • Act to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing)
  • Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (operations and financial)
  • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for finance and shareholders
  • Assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring

Requirements

 

  • Proven experience as a Sales & Commercial Director within the construction, housebuilding or civil engineering industries
  • Ideally links and networks within the housebuilding industry
  • Proven experience in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key clients
  • In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
