My client is an innovative private equity-backed business in the East Midlands. They are a technology led, fast moving B2B organisation with an impressive track record of acquisitive and organic growth. They have excellent profit growth, an impressive portfolio of clients, a national presence and a reputation for being leaders in their field. The business has performed excellently during the pandemic, broadening its customer base and being instrumental in supporting the nationwide roll-out of Covid-19 testing stations. Their products and services will be at the forefront of the new business and communication methods accelerated by the challenges of 2020.

The business is led by a highly experienced and professional team and benefits from a very strong culture that enthusiastically holds the values of excellent customer service, strong partnerships and its employees and community at its core. The board and the investors are looking for a Chief Financial Officer to join the team and support the business in its next phase of growth.

The CFO will be required to work strategically with the Board, Investors, and other external stakeholders, whilst also being across the detail. Experience of leading a robust growth strategy would be advantageous as the company continue to build toward a future capital event. Previous experience of operating in a private equity-backed environment or a business going through an exit process would be advantageous.

Whilst confidently credible with external stakeholders, the CFO will be responsible for leading and developing the existing finance and accounts team, covering:

  • Responsibility and oversight of all aspects of the financial management of the business.
  • Maintain and develop the existing culture of strong cash management and forecasting.
  • Reporting to the business and the board on all aspects of financial management.
  • Overseeing the audit process.
  • Supervision of all tax, audit and regulatory filing and company secretarial functions.
  • Liaison with key funders (including the senior lender, institutional equity and management team), management and oversight of the funding structure.
  • Preparation and presentation of all aspects of financial reporting required both to the business and to the board.

The CFO will help develop the strategic vision of the business, supporting the continuing transition of the business model into a customer-focused provider of support and services anchored to its broad product offering. They will be expected to work closely with the senior team to identify and monitor the key performance metrics that will drive this transition.  The business benefits from low leverage and supportive funders, the CFO will lead these relationships and be the primary point of contact for external stakeholders.

The opportunity would suit an individual seeking their next FD/CFO opportunity, whilst wishing to capitalise on their existing experience by bringing it to bear in an exciting, high growth enterprise with excellent prospects. The potential via equity to participate in the value creation from a successful exit in the coming years will be a key attraction, as will the potential to continue to develop and play a meaningful role in the enterprise in the years to come.
