Job Details

Our client is a globally renowned FMCG (approx. 850m turnover in 2019), based out of the City of London, who are currently looking to appoint a Procurement Director to head up their London office’s procurement function, reporting directly into the Chief Financial Officer. This is a permanent role, paying £155,000pa + up to 20% bonus – depending on performance.

Initially, the role would require the successful candidate to commute to the London office 5 days a week (as soon as this becomes legally acceptable, in compliance with the current government guidelines). However, after 3-6 months, our client has confirmed that a degree of flexibility will be made possible.

In this senior leadership role, you will responsible for a team of 14 – including buyers, category, sourcing and procurement managers – who will be reporting directly into you. You will be responsible for both direct and indirect procurement, with the overarching goal being to maintain a smooth cost reduction program. It will be up to the successful candidate to ensure the organization’s procurement, purchasing and sourcing capability is outstanding, by reducing the business’s overall purchasing spend, without compromising the standard and reliability of supply.

As the Procurement Director, you will be responsible for:

  • The development, leadership and motivation for every member of the current Procurement team, ensuring the overall function continues to maintain the highest procurement standards.
  • Implementing a procurement system which guarantees cost-reduction, on an annual basis.
  • Leading contract negotiations with essential internal stakeholders.
  • Maintaining necessary market intelligence capabilities within the procurement team, ensuring their knowledge of the concerned markets and solutions are exemplary.
  • Be ready to adapt and adjust procurement strategies, based on evolving market conditions.
  • All forms of supplier negotiations, on both the national and global scale.

The candidates who stand the best chance at advancing through the interview process are one’s who have had prior experience in senior leadership roles within the procurement space. Notably, candidates who have worked within blue-chip, multinational corporations. However, this is not an absolute necessity.

Company

Communicate stands for excellence, entrepreneurialism and delivery.

Our aim is simple: to source and place the best candidates within timeframes which surpass those of other recruitment businesses. With 32% of placements made this year being at FTSE 100 companies, we feel we are living up to our aspirations.

Specialising in the placement of permanent and interim candidates for many of the world’s best companies, Communicate has earned an excellent reputation for providing fast and effective recruitment on a retained or contingent basis, without ever compromising quality. Indeed, despite the market average for finding new opportunities through word-of-mouth being just 18%*, this year, 67% of the placements made so far have been agency network, referred or headhunted candidates.

In addition, we are thought leaders, regularly appearing in national, regional and trade publications.

We are also market leaders. Our pioneering product – the Communicate Contingent Retainer – guarantees we fill vacancies within six weeks or refund all payments, in full, immediately. This means positions are filled with exceptional candidates at four times the speed of the industry standard and clients are not exposed to the 20% risk of paying for a service they do not receive, as is typical with most of our competitors’ retained assignments.
