An exciting long term opportunity for a head of Data Services within the public sector domain

The role of Head of Data Services is a key role within the Digital Delivery Unit, responsible for end-to-end delivery of a range of data platforms, data and digital services to end users and critical to supporting the organisation

Key Responsibilities of this role:

• Accountable for platform delivery and quality of service.
• Adopting a portfolio view, managing end-to-end services, which include multiple products and channels.
• Operating at scale and provide the connection between multidisciplinary business areas and stakeholders.
• Ensure that new and existing data platform services meet the needs of users.
• Develop an expertise across the Department and be fully aware of the work carried out by colleagues.
• Responsibility for operational management of Servers, delivering a complex web application stack.
• Responsibility for building and configuring new server platforms and the automated tooling for doing so.
• Manage support of development teams in configuring applications for development.
• Act as a strong advocate for digital solutions and approaches across the department.
• Set a high technical standard in Dev Ops/Web Ops across the department.
• Ensure compliance with the standards and framework for Dev Ops/Web Ops.
• Workforce planning to ensure the team has the appropriate technical capacity and capability.
• Own the detail of the relevant Job Descriptions and Team Structures for roles within your area.
• Scripting and/or programming skills.
• Experience configuring and managing Linux Servers serving a dynamic website. Knowledge and experience of applications Servers.
