Operations Director - Utilities

Working with the MD to continue the development of a new Utilities division focused on supplying services to both Client, Tier 1 and Sub contractor organisations.

Location: - Southern Region - Flexible for the right person

Salary: - £90,000 - £110,000 basic + Bonus + Car + Package

Role Description

As a growing sub-contractor this organisation already has a full order book for the next 12 months with repeat Tier 1 clients. Offering various project solutions from complete site logistics, waste management, Traffic Management, Site set up, Minor works and projects on site. With contacts across most Tier 1 organisations the focus has been on construction for the last 20 years but as their reputation has grown this has given them more opportunities in the infrastructure sector hence the focus and push to cement these opportunities and relationships.

This organisation needs someone that is entrepreneurial by nature and will utilise your relationships to continue the footprint in the Utilities sector. Ultimately win work utilising the current work force in place then moving your focus to operational delivery. Creating your own team, growing your division with the resource you need to be successful and profitable.

Having proven contacts across the Infrastructure sector be it Tier 1, Sub-contractors or Client side will be just as important as developing and running the division. The goal is after 12 months of establishing the business with the MD that it will become its own business with you becoming full MD as the current MD steps back in to a group role overseeing the other divisions.

The is support with in the business of other tier 1 professionals to add to your skills and resource. Ultimately you are the lead for this new business, so you need commercial acumen to run your own division. Full control over budgets, costings, business development, work winning and operational delivery. There is also an opportunity to have equity in the business within the Utilities division depending on the person and abilities in establishing the business in the sector.

Your Background

Utilities - Must understand the Utilities sector be it Water, Gas or Power. How projects are procured and awarded, How the sectors work regarding key clients and opportunities for the organisation.

Proven leadership - You need to have experience in controlling a business unit, full profit and loss as well as the growth and day to day running.
