Finatal are working with a newly private equity-backed life sciences business that are looking for an Interim Finance Director to work closely with the CFO and professionalise the finance function, post investment. The company develops medical devices and is at the forefront of their market in terms of technological advances. They’re also looking to grow through some M&A activity, with a couple of target companies already lined up – so someone who has led post-acquisition integrations in a PE setting will stand out.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the development and professionalisation of the finance function
  • Preparing board reports on the potential acquisitions and supporting the CFO in deal negotiation
  • Integrating the acquisitions into the business, and keeping it as seamless as possible
  • Overseeing the financial strategic plans, identifying performance and potential risks
  • Revising the management reporting and inventory accounting and implementing improvements
  • Running the quarterly and annual budget process
  • Professionalise operational and regulatory KPIs
  • Building scalable processes which enable the business to achieve its short and long-term goals
  • Overseeing a new ERP system implementation
  • Execution of 100-day plan set by the PE investors
  • Overseeing the professional development of the existing members of the finance function, as well as hiring new staff for any gaps in the team

Looking for:

  • Fully qualified accountant with extensive post-qualified experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Previous experience of working in a fast-moving and high-growth PE environment
  • Experience of acquiring companies and leading the integration
  • Someone who is happy to quickly move from board level to being hands-on with junior staff
  • A confident communicator who enjoys building relationships at all levels
  • Strong commercial awareness – particularly in the life sciences field
  • Excellent analytical skills, and a strong technical accountant
  • Experience of managing and developing a team
