Parkinson Lee Executive Search are the retained partner to a market leading, multi-site organisation within the Industrial sector in the appointment of a Head of HR Business Partnering to be based in West Yorkshire.

The business is going through a significant period of change and modernisation and HR are playing a significant role in this transformation.

Reporting into the HR Director joining the Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for leading a highly engaged team that consistently delivers against the HR organisational plan within a business that covers multiple sites and over 1000 people.

Specifically, you will play a lead role in ensuring:

  • The business has a motivated, engaged and productive workforce, and that the Business Unit activities are productive and efficient
  • A high level of individual and team capability and line leaders and managers have the skills to manage people through change and get the best out of their teams and team members
  • The Business Unit Leadership team are considered a high-performing team
  • The Business Unit workforce value and champion cultural diversity and individual difference, lever-aging different strengths and perspectives to deliver stronger teams and better business solutions
  • The Business Unit HR team share learning and deliver excellent HR services and impactful HR interventions and utilising the Core Services Function effectively
  • The business understand performance levels and progress against their HR strategy and plan

In addition, you will:

  • Provide first class leadership for the HR team and role modelling what great leadership looks like for the senior leadership team
  • Review HR trends and metrics; providing insight, challenge and support and proactively working with the business to develop solutions to improve business performance
  • Work alongside business leaders and management team(s) to challenge, support and coach them in the delivery of the business plan through their people, including the successful and effective management of business and organisational change
  • Develop the Business Unit people plans and interventions to ensure that performance is raised and the business plan is delivered; in addition, ensuring that there are plans in place that build the capability to deliver the business plans of the future
  • Ensure any required Business Unit changes or initiatives are aligned and optimised with the people plan for the whole group
  • Deliver an effective service that reinforces the business HR model, i.e. the HR Business Partner facilitates and prioritise the demand on the services and expertise of the Centres of Excellence
  • Develop and embed effective ways of working with Trade Unions across all sites, ensuring a collaborative working environment and avoidance of industrial action
  • Review change outcomes and their contribution to achieving business strategy thereby driving continuous improvement
  • Coach and develop people leaders, building their skills and competency to manage and maximise their effectiveness and performance and that of their teams
  • Communicate and drive the People plan through both operational excellence in business-as-usual and transformational change

Parkinson Lee are looking for the successful candidate to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Expert knowledge of a broad depth of HR practices and legislation
  • Proven track record in leading HR teams and working with senior business leaders to deliver large scale / and or multiple projects and strategic change initiatives
  • Previous experience of working with Trade Unions and in a Unionised environment
  • A resilient and strong personality to be able to challenge where needed
  • Strong leadership skills with experience of evaluating team structures
  • Motivated to drive cultural change within a business
  • Experience of delivering agendas around talent and succession planning
  • Experience of contributing to leadership board with confidence
  • Experience of working across multiple sites
