Position Description

The Institute currently seeks a highly motivated Research Analyst with analytical skills in macroeconomics, experience using macroeconomic data, especially emerging markets, and economic intuition to guide the construction of new datasets.

S/he will be responsible for a wide range of duties including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting macroeconomic data analysis, contributing to reports on cross-emerging market issues, and assisting with special projects; 
  • Developing datasets that combine traditional macro data with innovative sources that may require extracting data from websites and some coding (R, Python, Java);
  • Supporting senior staff with writing macroeconomic analytical reports on selected emerging market countries based on information gathered through membership contacts and published statistical and information sources; 
  • Maintaining country databases ensuring consistency, addressing member's data needs, assisting with the planning and implementing of events, as well as preparing and contributing to drafts for special studies and presentations.

Requirements

Applicants should have: a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance or other related quantitative field, but more competitive candidates would have a master’s degree; two years of relevant experience in a similar role where macroeconomic analysis is central; proficient in MS Excel, including advanced functions and formulas; proficient in the use of analytical, statistical, and econometric software packages such as Eviews; coding experience; a strong command of the English language as well as excellent written and oral communication skills are also essential. Desirable: experience with Bloomberg, Haver, and foreign language skills.
