Parkinson Lee Executive Search, part of the Elevation Recruitment Group, are the retained partner to one of Yorkshire's leading manufacturing organisations in the appointment of a Managing Director to be based in West Yorkshire.

The group has a turnover in excess £75 Million and has a long and successful Yorkshire Heritage. They have several well-known, market leading brands within their portfolio, with a strong reputation for innovation and quality. With global coverage, the company consists of a number of businesses that distribute products to a variety of sectors including Aerospace, Automotive, Defence and Oil & Gas.

An opportunity now exists for a Managing Director to lead one of these businesses within the group. With a turnover of approximately £17million, this high precision manufacturing company has three production facilities in the UK and sales offices in both China and Canada.

Reporting to the Group CEO, you will lead a team of circa 120 colleagues through 6 direct reports and key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing the company's business strategies in order to attain short and long-term goals
  • Providing strategic advice to the board and Chairperson so that they will have accurate view of the market and the company's future
  • Preparing and implementing comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities
  • Maintaining budgets for the business as well as the individual projects it takes on
  • Communicating and maintaining trust in relationships with business partners, key customers and suppliers
  • Maintaining regular dialogue with the Group's subsidiaries in China and Canada
  • Overseeing the company's financial performance, investments and other business ventures
  • Delegating responsibilities and supervising the work of executives providing guidance, mentorship and motivation to drive maximum performance
  • Acting as the public speaker and public relations representative of the company in ways that strengthen its profile
  • Researching and analysing the industry, market, and competitors to make informed strategy decision
  • Creating initiatives to take advantage of market opportunities, reduce operational threats, forestall business risks, and maximises core strengths

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A successful track record operating at the MD or Operations Director level within a high-pressured manufacturing and engineering sector
  • Experience of working in multi-faceted and multi-site operations, ideally with UK and International exposure
  • Experience of implementing and monitoring modern manufacturing techniques
  • A proven ability to deliver strategic business plans
  • Strong man management and mentoring skills - will be hands on when needed, but also understands the strengths of your existing team members
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • A good understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance
  • Ambition, drive and passion

Ideally you will be based within commutable distance of either West Yorkshire or Surrey and be willing to travel both in the UK and Internationally as required.
