Located in Tavistock on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, Mount Kelly is a thriving and expanding co-educational independent school for pupils aged 3-18 years. The Prep and College sit on a stunning site of more than 100 acres, bisected by the River Tavy.  Mount Kelly has a strong focus on academic achievement and outstanding pastoral care, as well as a diverse co-curricular programme.  As one of only two independent schools in the UK with a 50m pool, the School has a particularly strong reputation for its swimming programme and an enviable record of international success.

Over the last five years Mount Kelly has gone from strength to strength.  Pupil numbers have increased significantly, the School’s financial position has been transformed, and there has been considerable investment in the infrastructure of the Prep and the College.  In September 2020 pupil numbers exceeded 600 for the first time.  In addition, Mount Kelly opened its first international school in Hong Kong in 2017 and is seeking to expand its overseas network further.

The Governors and Head Master of Mount Kelly are now looking to appoint a Director of Finance and Operations who will lead the financial and operational management of the School and play an integral role in developing the School’s strategy. This is a broad role, and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a proven record of accomplishment in strategic and operational financial management gained at a senior level over a number of years. This person will be an effective senior leader, with experience of managing large teams, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Applications are encouraged from candidates from a broad range of sectors who have strong commercial skills, but a commitment to, and empathy with, the wider educational and charitable mission of Mount Kelly will be essential. Mount Kelly is committed to being an equal opportunity employer and is determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status, or race, or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be justifiable.

Further information on the School can be found at www.mountkelly.com and a candidate brief can be downloaded from www.odgers.com/81094.

Letters of application, CVs and application forms should be sent by the closing date, 9am GMT on Monday 23 November 2020.

Mount Kelly is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
