Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust
Trustees  & Board Members of York
Unremunerated

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) and its subsidiary, Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) were established over 100 years ago with a clear and vital mission to seek out the root causes of poverty and to find practical ways to address these in conjunction with those who are experiencing poverty and exclusion. The organisations now operate under a group structure through which our vision to create a prosperous UK without poverty is supported by our independent research, influential policy work, collaborative practices, and practical solutions along with our delivery of social housing and care services.

We are now looking for four new trustees to join our JRF Trustee Board, and two new Board Members to join the JRHT Board, who will help us to shape our work through our strategic plan that will bring about lasting social change.

You will share our vision for combining policy and practice, whilst also generously sharing your knowledge, lived experience, and insight to ensure that we can deliver with relevance, impact, and purpose. You will be able to challenge in a constructive and collaborative way, with a focus on reaching good-quality shared decisions, able to think strategically and creatively about the application of different approaches to challenges the organisation may face.

On the JRF Trustee Board, we are particularly interested in those with a background in economics and social sciences, local delivery, social investment, and campaigning, while on the  JRHT Board we seek technical financial expertise, particularly in regulatory settings, as well as community development, social housing and clinical experience from within the care sector.

We are looking for bold thinkers, innovative influencers, and agents of change. Prior trustee experience is not required.

If you have the personal or professional experience and skills we seek and share our enthusiasm for tackling major social issues, we are keen to hear from you.
