Our Client

Our client is a well-established Somerset based food/drinks manufacturing business. The company is experiencing plenty of success and has recently invested significantly in their production line technology and infrastructure. Due to continued success, diversification of certain lines and general growth there is the strategic requirement to recruit an Operations Director for the business.

Main Purpose

To direct and coordinate the operations teams incorporating Production, Engineering and Technical to deliver the goals and objectives of the organisation.  Ensure a ‘right first-time’ manufacturing approach and set strategic goals for operational efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the senior management team in setting goals that promote company growth
  • Oversee the daily activity of the team
  • Prepare budgets, schedules, and other organisational reports as needed
  • Manage team workloads to meet goals and deadlines
  • Develop plans to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Improve existing systems and policies
  • Develop a robust and deliverable engineering asset care program
  • Ensure customer requirements are met in a timely manner
  • Promote and enforce safety in the workplace
  • Manage stock and inventory
  • Oversee manufacturing functions
  • Drive a ‘right-first-time’ culture emanating from the Technical department
  • Work closely with other departments to promote efficient factory optimisation
  • Manage internal and external service suppliers
  • Execute plans designed to meet company goals by changing policies and coaching employees

Core Experience/Qualifications

Suitable candidates will have:

  • FMCG Food / Drinks manufacturing industry Operations Director & Head of Operations level experience
  • Engineering backgrounds prior to developing their career in Operations – it is expected that suitable candidates will have relevant engineering qualifications
  • Experience in leading and directing successful operational change within food/drinks FMCG manufacturing companies
  • Strategic experience in shaping operations and working at Board level
  • Expertise in leading, implementing, and developing site relevant lean processes
