Job Details

Working closely with the CEO and other members of the Board of this market leading PE backed provider of professional services, the Sales Director will be responsible for the commercial strategy and the development of all activities relating to sales and product development.

The role holder will aid in the delivery of organic and acquisitive growth and profitability, through a targeted commercial strategy, aimed at optimising market share and diversification of products and services. The Sales Director will keep abreast of trends and market conditions to provide insights and strategic advice to the Executive and Investor Board. They will be able to build competitive advantage from a strong network of contacts and relationships across own and aligned industries and related bodies.  

Candidate Profile

Essential

  • Experience of working at Executive/Board level in a commercial role
  • Demonstrable record of delivering growth and revenue for organisations
  • Track record of identifying and developing profitable new channels to market
  • Ability to create and build strong relationships across the industry, engendering trust to maximise opportunity
  • Experience on leveraging opportunity whilst working collaboratively across teams and specifically with Marketing

Desirable

  • Specific industry knowledge and enhanced relationships
  • Experience of delivering in a PE backed environment
  • BSc/BA or MSc/MA in business administration, finance or relevant field

 Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned to the Company vision and roadmap
  • Continuously review the business environment and strategic capabilities/limitations of the company
  • Develop routes to market, according to company goals and objectives, to accelerate the growth of the business and generate revenue
  • Create value through leading on the identification of commercial activities, diversified products and offerings, developing a pipeline of opportunities
  • Identify and build relationships with potential acquisition opportunities
  • Utilise expertise and network to strengthen the group brands in the market as a differentiated product to drive growth
  • Develop and grow existing sales team to outperform the market whilst building capabilities
  • Collaborate directly with Executive leadership to set the growth direction and prioritise objectives
  • Set focus for sales teams and optimise concentration on defined sales channels. Translate the business vision into actionable KPIs and objectives for the team
  • Prioritise and make decisions intelligently using data and industry knowledge. Quickly identify and act upon opportunities and issues/inefficiencies and quantify their scale and impact
  • Optimise resources and align them to achieve strategic and operational goals
  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.)
  • Understand the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met and new opportunities for additional and/or enhanced services are identified and delivered
  • Act to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing)
  • Collaborate with and coordinate activities across diverse teams (marketing, sales, customer service etc.)
  • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Monitor the performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for Executive and Investor Boards and senior management
  • Involvement in the identification of and integration of acquired assets and operations, helping to define ongoing business strategies, establish KPI's and business plans, implement initiatives to leverage assets across departments and divisions
  • Ownership of sales financial targets and budget
  • Provide leadership and broad thinking to the overall business, our people and our challenges and ensure the team is capable, motivated and supported to deliver their responsibilities to an excellent standard
