The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s (NDA) mission to safely and securely clean-up the UK’s nuclear legacy across its seventeen sites is one of national importance. The NDA’s one hundred and twenty year programme is tackling some of the highest hazard facilities in the world, with current outstanding nuclear liabilities estimated at £135bn.
The NDA sets the overall strategy for decommissioning and waste management across its sites and performance manages its group of delivery businesses - such as Sellafield - with the aim of maximising value to the taxpayer. It is also home to the UK’s class-leading nuclear transport capability, with a fleet of four ships and over one hundred locomotives.
The NDA is seeking two exceptional non-executive Board members to join its Board and each chair one of its important Board committees, the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee and the Programmes and Projects Committee. Board members will provide oversight of the NDA and work with government, regulators and other key stakeholders to shape the organisation’s strategy, and play a leading role in developing the organisation to deliver its challenging mission in a better way.
As Audit and Risk Assurance Committee Chair you will bring experience as an Audit Committee Chair and in dealing with risk at Board level. You will be a chartered accountant or equivalent and have financial expertise from a comparably complex organisation. You will also have chaired a Board or Board committee before.
As Programmes and Project Chair you will have knowledge and experience of major projects and large-scale programme/project management expertise. You will have experience working on major infrastructure project procurement, contract management and contract execution. You will also have chaired a Board or a Board committee before.
The roles are appointed by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in consultation with Scottish ministers; and the search is led by our employment agency advisor Saxton Bampfylde Ltd.
