Our client is a market leading provider of specialist technical design solutions and rental equipment services to the construction and utility sectors in the UK and Europe. Specialising in temporary works projects, it is a strategic partner for many of the UK’s leading construction contractors delivering projects for utilities’ multi-year framework contracts, and major projects such as HS2.

Highly profitable, with annual sales approaching £70m and 350 employees, the business has delivered 5 years of consistent growth. It is part of the acquisitive and highly regarded listed equipment rental group Vp plc, which employs approximately 2,500 people across the several autonomously run group businesses, each with leading positions in their specialist rental fields.

The Role

  • You will report to the Managing Director and will form part of the leadership team alongside Operations and Technical Engineering. You will be responsible for leading the Sales function which comprises of major projects, key accounts and regional sales teams, with circa 25 people who are based across the UK.
  • Develop and coach the sales teams to ensure that whilst maximising all sales opportunities they are creating long term relationships with customers, providing innovative solutions which provide real customer value ensuring the business remains focused on being the market leader within the sector.
  • You will create practical and deliverable sales plans specific to each region and market sector, ensuring the product portfolio evolves with ongoing customer needs and offers the latest technical innovation wherever possible.

The Candidate

  • You will be a proven sales leader with a track record of success within a proactive and business development-led environment – where the commercial focus is more aligned to selling a solution, or project capability, rather than just a product
  • An individual with gravitas and strong communication skills, you must possess financial knowledge and analytical skills with a highly commercial approach to sales. You will be an advocate of continuous improvement and best-in-class performance in an organisation  where health and safety is paramount.
