The Auckland Project sits at the heart of the regeneration of Bishop Auckland and through over £200 million of private investment in property and visitor attractions the stage is now set to introduce the commercial leadership that will accelerate the economic growth of its diverse asset base and, by extension, the wider local economy. This is a role for an individual who has the vision and tenacity to identify and convert new commercial opportunities, as well as the empathy and interest to see success not just as the delivery of internal goals but also in terms of their catalytic impact on the broader community.

THE POSITION

  • Establish the leadership and create the team necessary to draw together and deliver the range of opportunities open to The Auckland Project.
  • Bring the insight and passion, alongside the robust business planning, that will be critical to creating a portfolio of successful enterprises.
  • Seek out fresh commercial relationships and act as a pivotal ambassador for The Auckland Project across a range of private, public and third sector collaborators.

THE CANDIDATE

  • An open-minded, entrepreneurial and collaborative business leader capable of managing a multi-faceted business that encompasses visitor destinations, catering, retail, accommodation and property management.
  • A demonstrable appetite and capability for bringing strategic and operational clarity to a range of businesses from start-up scale enterprises through to more established organisations.
  • A compelling communicator who operates with integrity and who shares the belief that The Auckland Project can have a positive multiplier effect for the wider economy and community.
