Black Country Housing Group (BCHG) is a registered housing provider working closely with local communities in the Black Country and Birmingham. BCHG provides around 2,200 homes for families, retirement and supported living schemes as well as two residential care homes.

Through our Social Business Team we also provide a range of employability, training, and financial inclusion services, and our Homeforce Team provide a range of adaptations and other property services to local residents.

As a housing and care business BCHG employs around 300 colleagues. The Board has established BCHG's 2020-2023 Strategic Plan which sets ambitious plans for growth in our property portfolio with our customers at the heart of what we do. Our Board needs to be diverse as our colleagues and the people we serve and to this end, we want to encourage potential board members who understand the challenges and opportunities of making equality, diversity and inclusion a reality in all aspects of our business. We expect our Board members to demonstrate a personal commitment to this end.

We are now seeking two new Non-Executive Directors; one who brings skills and experience in property and development to help us build on our new development and asset management achievements to date; a second is sought who brings more general skills and brings a passion for the provision of high quality social housing and associated services. Both roles are required to lead and inspire the Group through the challenges we face from our external environment, and to ensure we deliver on our vision and strategic plan. Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills are essential along with the ability to analyse complex data and influence effectively at all levels.

With strong ambassadorial skills you will be comfortable engaging with our residents and customers as well as with a wide range of stakeholders ensuring that our organisation is effectively promoted. You should also be visible to and engage with the organisation, attending the staff conference and other colleague focused events.

Our approach to diversity supports everything else we are committed to do. We expect our Board Members to demonstrate a personal commitment to valuing, recognising and responding to diversity. We are, therefore, keen to increase the diversity of our Board so that we can better understand and connect with our customers and continue to champion diversity.

The closing date for applications is 12:00pm on Friday 1st October 2020.
