The senior network engineer is responsible for maintaining the availability of the operational networks; LAN, WAN, WLAN and UC/IPT services working with Managed Service Providers and giving guidance to network analysts in the team. The senior network engineer is part of a multi-cultural team based across global regions.

Description

Senior Network Engineer

• Performs a broad range of work, sometimes complex and non-routine, in a variety of environments
• Ensuring and maintaining the availability of the operational network services across the EMEA region
• Working closely with 3rd party Suppliers and Managed Service Providers to ensure availability and quality of the services provided
• Ensuring that each service provided is of the expected quality and compliant with the service agreements
• Demonstrates and applies a systematic and methodical approach to problem definition, troubleshooting and resolution.
• Day to day management of the networking infrastructure.
• Planning and Management of Change within the Network Operations environment
• Working closely with the other infrastructure teams to ensure service levels and deadlines will be met
• Solve or escalate disruptions of the network services understanding the impact that a disruption to the service has
• Provide 2nd Line support to the Regional Service Desk Team. Instruct and educate the Service Desk Analysts
• Understanding the implications of new technologies to Operations. Assisting with the smooth transition into Operations
• Communicates effectively, both formally and informally and can present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Has sufficient communication skill for effective dialogue with customers, suppliers and partners

Profile

Senior Network Engineer

To be successful in this role my client requires the following:

• High level of Cisco accreditation in Routing, Switching and Voice disciplines (CCNA)
• Security Qualifications desirable
• Appropriate level of accreditation from other Network vendors
• Service Management frameworks e.g. ITIL desirable
• A proven track record of experience working in networking communications
• Proven ability to manage all aspects of a networking environment
• Core network skills based in Routing and Switching (preferably Cisco)
• Proven knowledge and experience working with the following:
  • Softward Defined Networks (SD-WAN)
  • Cloud Services e.g. MS Azure
  • Firewalls and Network Security Products (On Premise, Virtual and Cloud Based)
  • Load Balancer Technologies
  • VoIP and IP Telephony (preferably Cisco)
  • Network Management Tools such as Solarwinds, PRTG, other
