Job Details

Rare opportunity for a Group board level FD to join a leading media PLC as CFO. The Group employs over 1,000 people across 40 offices around the world and has great ambition to really grow that footprint in the medium term.

Role Overview

  • Ultimately responsible for managing and presenting the Group’s financial results
  • Investor relations in conjunction with the CEO
  • Overall management of the finance team, central accounting services and agency business partners
  • Hands on assistance to divisional CEOs when a situation demands it
  • Design innovative future-proofing incentive packages 
  • Control the budget process and hold subsidiaries accountable
  • Manage tax, treasury and working capital
  • Ensure corporate governance adheres to the listed rules
  • Build close relationships across the Group, external advisers, investors and the bank
  • Help to instigate and then drive positive changes around the Group
  • Constantly review strategies in place for mitigating the pandemic impact
  • Jointly lead M&A processes
  • Innovatively support the board in implementing strategy

Experience Required

  • Group board level financial management of a multi-country, matrix reporting business
  • True CFO experience, with complete finance responsibility solely to the CEO / investors, is a must
  • PLC preferred but a majority investor backed business would also appeal
  • Senior finance experience in a media / professional services / technology business 
  • Remote management of regional international teams
  • Exposure to entrepreneurial, independently minded management teams
  • Extensive exposure to investors, be it public or private
  • First hand knowledge of additional group finance functions such as tax, treasury, audit and banking
  • Management, and subsequent integration, of an acquisition process

Skills and Character

  • Strong academics / intellect and a professional accounting qualification 
  • Superlative interpersonal and relationship building skills, essential both for working with internal creative leaders and for external investors
  • Excellent communication skills required to convey complex financial information 
  • Good listener, down to earth with great Integrity and honesty
  • Interest in the unique culture of the business, the sector, its opportunities and challenges
  • Bright, analytical & strategic, someone who sees finance as a business partner
  • Open to change, highly innovative commercially and financially, encouraging of ideas and initiatives
