Finance Director | Leisure and Hospitality | Old Street | 110-130K

Harmonic Finance are proud to be recruiting on an exclusive basis for one of London's fastest-growing Leisure and Hospitality businesses based in Soho

Led by one of the UK's leading hospitality entrepreneurs, and supported by multi-million pound investment you will assist them in their development towards a likely transaction within the next 18 months (life-changing equity available up-front to be paid out upon deal closure).

Company Culture

Although the business performance is market-beating (c. £8 million EBITDA) the company culture is very much still that of a 'start-up' and overall headcount is small. Growth rates are rapid and the business is also hugely acquisitive so- while home working is available etc- this is a role for a high-tempo, high-energy individual who is inspired by a fast-paced deal-driven culture. Candidates happy working in either VC or PE-backed environments which are deal-driven may therefore be a good 'fit'.

The Role

Although supported by a team of 5 colleagues covering payroll and transactional finance this is a truly hands-on Finance Director role. The company is very cash-driven, so you'll need to be used to leading teams which are really on top of the accruals and cash reconciliations processes. And also have the ability to deliver the successful integration of the accounts of acquired businesses into the Group P&L at pace. A passion for process improvement and integration would also be helpful here.

You will oversee delivery of the Stat and Management Accounts, Audit liaison, payroll and production of relevant board pack details. The more FP&A-related duties are led largely by the senior commercial colleagues currently, but there may be scope to become involved in this (plus improved data visualization etc) once you have settled into the role.

As the company is a physical location hospitality business, the successful candidate will have experience of overseeing stores or bars/restaurants in a multi-site operation.

Essential skills & Experience:

  • A background in a retail (physical stores rather than ecommerce), hospitality or leisure.
  • Early stage (sub £20 million t/o) business experience.
  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA.
  • Good technical hands-on accounting background.

What we'd like to see (Non-Essential)

  • A role as FC or FD in a business that has undertaken a successful 'buy and build' strategy successfully.
  • VC or PE experience.

Salary: 110-130k + Significant equity (note that equity will be lower if base salary at higher end of pay scale)
Interview process: Interview with Harmonic MD (Charlie Walker) , followed by meeting with CEO face-to-face
