KIMS Hospital is the largest independent hospital in Kent providing safe, outstanding, quality care for all our patients. Situated near Maidstone, we treat privately insured, self-funding and NHS funded patients.

The hospital has 99 beds (68 presently open) and our primary specialties are orthopaedic surgery, cardiology, gynaecology, breast surgery, urology and general surgery. Opened in 2014, we offer state-of-the-art imaging, diagnostic and operating environments and innovative technology in a modern setting. Our facilities include five operating theatres, three of which have laminar flow, an endoscopy suite, an interventional lab/suite, a cardiac cath lab, and a full range of outpatient and diagnostic facilities.

KIMS Hospital is seeking a new Finance Director to replace their long serving incumbent who is due to retire in 2020.  A new Finance Director is being recruited to help the hospital in the next phase of its journey. The Finance Director will work closely with the CEO in the delivery of the objectives set by the Executive team and ensuring the financial robustness of the hospital.

The Role

The Finance Director (FD) will have overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of the company’s operations and strategy with responsibility to optimise the company’s financial performance, capital structure and strategic position.

The FD will support the Board, CEO and Executive Team, through overseeing all financial aspects of the business and driving the company’s financial strategy and planning. They will be a statutory director and a key member of the Hospital Executive Management Board (HMB), responsible for ensuring the company’s financial controls and capital structure remain robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.

The FD will act as an effective business partner to the CEO and provide the Board/HMB and the CEO with timely advice and information concerning the company’s actual and prospective financial performance that will inform business decision making. The FD will be responsible for driving consistency and best practice across the hospital on a number of financial and commercial initiatives to grow revenue, improve profitability and continually improve cash management

The Candidate

The appointed candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). They will have a proven Track record as a Finance Director in an investor backed SME/fast growth business, experience of the UK Independent Hospital Market is desirable.

The FD will display effective communication skills with strong commercial skills and a proven track record of development of business cases to support investment decisions. They will have experience of managing and developing a finance team, implementing financial controls and processes and the ability to bring “finance to life” across the business.

The FD will be able to operate at both strategic and operational levels. They will have experience of working with an investor backed business and demonstrate an understanding and fit with KIMS values. The FD will be an outgoing, positive and professional personality with a flexible approach. They will work well under pressure and be able to prioritise workload for themselves and their team. They will possess strong and demonstrable leadership and management skills and work to a high level of accuracy.

The appointed candidate will be enthusiastic and able to identify and promote new initiatives within the organisation.
