The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) is the world’s only professional accountancy body specialising in public services; our portfolio of qualifications is the foundation for a career in public finance.

Our members work across public services delivering strong public financial management across a wide range of bodies including local and central government, health, housing, charities, police, fire and many more, as well as in national audit agencies, major accountancy firms and other organisations around the world, where public money must be effectively and efficiently managed.

Globally, CIPFA leads the way in public finance. We support best practice in the management of public sector resources and use our values and expertise to help public finance managers as they grapple with everything from sovereign debt issues to austerity programmes and the range of responses these require.

We are looking for an experienced strategic leader with an awareness of the public sector, accountancy profession and educational environment in the UK and abroad. Bringing credibility to work with senior figures in public finance globally, you will lead the core business of our suite of qualifications and drive growth across all our membership. As a member of the CIPFA Management Team, we would want someone who is enthusiastic, dynamic and resilient, looking to make a real difference to public financial management across the UK and around the world.

You need to bring a clear and strong vision for CIPFA’s business strategy and the role that the education and membership offering must play in its achievement. You must be able to implement that strategy, whilst being flexible to the changing demands of market with its emerging issues and varying priorities of demand.

We would also want an accomplished leader who can set the direction and pace for the team and represent members’ needs at all levels of the organisation – from CIPFA’s Council and Board through to our key accounts and with colleagues across the organisation. Additionally, you will be a leader who is an effective coach and mentor to a diverse team of talent and experience.

CIPFA’s head office is in London, but we can be flexible on location and will consider applications from candidates based outside the UK. The successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly to CIPFA’s other offices in the UK and overseas and if based outside the UK, will need to spend a significant proportion of their induction period in London, while they establish their new team.

Interested and up for a challenge to really shape the future of public finance? Then we would love to hear from you.
