Border Force delivers this by undertaking immigration, customs and security checks on passengers and freight crossing the UK border. The Industry Partnerships team performs an essential role at the heart of Border Force, leading on important activity around engagement with industry partners. We're committed to negotiating good deals with stakeholders and securing the best outcomes for Border Force.

The team is headed by Director Scott Ghagan and sits within the Border Force Strategic Capabilities and Planning Directorate. This post is one of three Deputy Director roles, supported by Assistant Directors and a pool of staff at SEO and HEO grades who work across the various strands.

The team's work is diverse, involving working with port operators, wider industry and other Government Departments to establish strong and effective relationships. Industry Partnerships supports Border Force operations in Port Expansion (largely cost avoidance), Income Generation and Stakeholder Engagement.

The Deputy Director TPF (income) and Port Infrastructure (cost avoidance) will lead on establishing and setting the framework for requirements that ports need to have in place to operate, as well as improving consistency of approach, assessing major port expansions and negotiating with industry partners and stakeholders.

We are looking for an individual with proven negotiation skills to fill this challenging post. You will play a pivotal leadership role, leading the team to secure the best Port Infrastructure solutions for Border Force, identifying and acting on opportunities to reduce Border Force's future costs - which will have a far-reaching impact across the department.

You will be a strong contender for this key role if you have a proven track record of project work with delivery focus, have created and lead virtual teams, framed and taken through legislation, as well as having an understanding of assurance, excellent written skills and visibility as a leader.

You will have strong policy, communication and engagement skills, be able to draft at pace, have a track record in gaining and maintaining the trust of senior leaders (both Government and industry), building and leveraging good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders with the ability to challenge in a constructive manner. Ideally you will possess commercial acumen gained in Government or industry.

It would also be beneficial if you have experience or an understanding of working on both the demand and supply side of issues and understand the effects and opportunities derived from cost avoidance action.
