Information Security Manager

Location: Avon
Length: 3 months +
Hours: 37 per week (Mon-Fri 9-3)
Rate: £600 Umbrella

Venn Group's Local Government team are recruiting for an accomplished Information Security Manager to ensure that council's information is held, used and shared securely by implementing robust policy, organisational and technical security regimes.

Daily duties will include:

• Managing a team of 5 Senior IT Officers and overseeing the IT Officers reporting to them.
• Lead and manage a team ensuring the security of all information held and used by the council.
• Provide professional leadership and strategic direction to the information security function within the council.
• Develop policies, standards, and procedures to support sound security in service delivery/operations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and codes of good practice.
• Establish management strategies to ensure that policies are effectively applied and maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Council information systems.
• Ensure the council's technical architecture is appropriately secure.
• Ensure that the council agrees appropriate Information Sharing Protocols with other bodies and maintains Codes of Connection to the Government Secure Extranet (GCSx) and other networks as needed.
• Maintain effective internal and external checks and challenges to security arrangements such as audits and penetration tests
• Ensure the council's staff understand and act on their security responsibilities.
• Ensure Security Policies in place to meet the council's needs.

Competencies Appropriate to the Role:

• Management of and provision of expert advice on, the selection, design, justification, implementation and operation of information security controls and management strategies.
• To maintain the confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability and relevant compliance of information systems.
• Provide leadership and oversight of information assurance, setting high level strategy and policy, to ensure stakeholder confidence that risk to the integrity of information in storage and transit is managed.
• Development of policies, procedures, working practices and training to promote compliance with legislation regulating the holding, use and disclosure of personal data.
