Job Description

Head of Technology - Stevenage

Head of Technology IT Services works to support schools through providing advice and support on IT solutions tailored to meet the needs of their setting. Our IT offer is founded on our deep knowledge of the education sector and our appreciation that schools need high quality, safe networks to keep children and young people using technology safe and to safeguard the extensive personal data held by a school on both students and staff.

The Head of Service will be responsible and accountable for service performance, driving sustainable growth and development whilst ensuring that the service adds value to all of our customers. The strategy and future road-map used to drive growth and development must take account of changing delivery models ensuring that the HfL model meets customer needs, maximises efficiency to ensure efficiency and is adaptable to changing technologies.

  • Oversee the day to day operations of the IT team, ensuring that the service is designed, planned, implemented and continuously improved with the needs of our customers at the heart of decision making
  • Drive the development of the longer term strategy for IT, working closely with the Director of Business Services and the Business Services Leadership Team to halt current decline and improve the operating margin to ensure the sustainability of the service
  • Deliver the agreed financial targets for IT Services, including both pay as you use services and core contract income
  • Lead the service team; recruiting, motivating, developing and managing the performance of team. It is expected that you will ensure that a high calibre team is in place with the skills and capabilities needed to deliver the required results and drive growth.
  • Document and ensure appropriate marketing of IT services through developing robust plans informed by best practice and intelligence gathered from across the business

The Successful Applicant:

  • Experience of managing and delivering operational IT support
  • Proven track record of designing customer-centric service solutions that deliver sustainable income growth
  • Proven track record of optimising team productivity to increase operating margin
  • Experience of designing contracts and SLAs with customers and providers
  • Experience delivering digital transformation projects

Knowledge:

  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles and tools
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of Managed Service Provision
  • Ideally knowledge of IT provision in schools, or an ability to adapt quickly to this sector

What's on Offer

70k to 80k +
