At Hertfordshire Constabulary we are committed to delivering the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Community Safety and Criminal Justice Plan, protecting the county’s population of well over a million across an area of 632 square miles. The force currently employs more than 3500 Police Officers and Police Staff, supported by 250 Special Constables, and over 900 volunteers.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive finance leader to join our Chief Officer team as Chief Finance Officer (CFO). This is a broad and challenging role that will require an outstanding professional with clear demonstrable ability to operate in a complex, collaborative environment. Reporting into Chief Constable Charlie Hall, the new CFO will have a broad remit covering Finance, ICT, Estates and Facilities, and will deliver statutory Section 151 responsibilities.

We are a collegiate force and are thrilled to have formed a successful strategic alliance with Bedfordshire Police and Cambridgeshire Constabulary, we also remain committed to working in close partnership with the other police forces in the Eastern region. The strategic alliance has produced extensive achievements in the collaboration of operational and organisational departments and the new CFO will need to work constructively with their counterparts in the other two forces to ensure an effective and efficient use of resources across the alliance.

In the next year, Hertfordshire Constabulary will be embarking on an ambitious programme to redevelop our HQ at Welwyn Garden City, the CFO will play a significant role in the success of this project and therefore, experience of leading change or large-scale programmes would also be beneficial in this appointment.

Hertfordshire Constabulary is committed to increasing representation from underrepresented groups which includes those who identify as black and minority ethnic (BME), female, LGBT and disabled. Therefore, we would encourage applications from these individuals.

Appointment will be based on merit alone.

If you have any queries about the appointment process, need additional information or wish to have an informal and confidential discussion please contact Peter Buffoni (07964 877 654) or Olivia Robinson (0113 205 6298) at GatenbySanderson, who will be pleased to talk to you.
