The Institute, based in Central London, has been established by the Nuffield Foundation in partnership with the Alan Turing Institute, the Royal Society, the British Academy, the Royal Statistical Society, the Wellcome Trust, Luminate, techUK and the Nuffield Council on Bioethics.
The recently established Board currently consists of six Trustees, led by Executive Chair Sir Alan Wilson. Adopting a collaborative approach, its role is to oversee the Institute’s governance, provide strategic direction and play a key role in identifying opportunities for impact and long-term sustainability.
The Board is now looking to expand its membership to include at least two additional experienced figures who each bring valuable and distinctive perspectives, skill sets and networks to the Ada Lovelace Institute. The additional Trustees should bring new perspectives and areas of expertise to the Institute’s Board, including senior academic or professional experience in law, data science, health, media, economics, civil society or the private sector. Seeking to be as diverse as possible, an increase in breadth of gender, ethnicity, and geographical representation would also be welcomed.
This is an exciting opportunity for those with an appetite for creating positive social impact at pace in the field of data and AI. Board members will be expected to work collegiately and contribute to the wider Board and strategy of the organisation, beyond their own expertise, and will be expected to commit approximately two days per month to the Institute. As the Institute undergoes a period of growth, the Institute’s Board meets six times a year at the Nuffield Foundation in London. Candidates will need to be available to attend Board meetings in person; travel support is available for Board members based throughout the UK and Europe. Closing Date: 25 October 2019. Length of appointment: 3 years, honoraria paid. Further information on the Institute’s aims and mission can be found here https://www.adalovelaceinstitute.org/our-prospectus/.
