A multi-Billion dollar manufacturing business based near Frankfurt is looking for an experienced Director of HR to help drive changes in culture, leadership, talent management, performance, reward and recognition, personal development, ways of working and structures that are needed to ensure the Company achieves its strategic goals and gives their employees an exceptional experience.

The appointed candidate will hold the position of Director of HR - Germany. This position reports to the Managing Director of Germany, with functional reporting to the European HR Director who is based in the UK. The role will have full responsibility for HR activities at the 6 sites based across Germany with direct reports in each site.

Overview

The Director of HR is responsible for the delivery of a high-quality HR service for multiple business units throughout Germany. You will work across the full range of the HR function, and partner with managers and local HR to understand the key performance issues, objectives and drivers to progress proactively the HR agenda.

You will provide high quality advice, vision, coaching and support to influence improvements to the business. You will partner with the business to provide a high-level HR service and whilst you will have the support of small local-site teams, you will essentially provide these business units with HR guidance on various topics, therefore a strong generalist background is key.

Priorities

Work with the Managing Director - Germany and the European HR Director to implement successfully group HR strategy and initiatives

Development of People, Coaching and Mentoring

Talent Management & Succession Planning

High-level Employee Relations

Legislative advice to Senior Management and Directors

Reporting and presentations to management board (monthly, quarterly, annually)

Project work as required

Develop and implement policies and procedures as required legally and through Group directive

Consider, plan and drive forward a relevant training plan

Successful business partnering

Compliance and governance in all HR activities

Integrating the German division to provide a Centre of HR Excellence

Provide and support HR best practice sharing throughout the HR function, but specifically within Germany.

Provide excellent core HR, Professional Development and Health and Safety services across all business areas to enable the effective operation of the organisation

As the Head of HR your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Excellent working knowledge of German employment law and best practice.

Excellent technical HR knowledge through generalist and leadership experience within a Matrix organisation.

An operational expert, advising key stakeholders and line managers on a range of complex employee relations issues, being an advocate of the organisation's culture and core values and driving these values through the wider German HR team.

Demonstrated ability to consult, influence, and partner with senior leaders in developing and executing people strategies to drive business performance.

Demonstrated relationship management skills at all levels of the organisation as well as team management.

Experience in Organisational Design and creating High Performing Organisations.

Specific skills that are required to excel in this role include the following:

A strong background within HR Management, ideally in the manufacturing industry

Fantastic communication skills that include being able to deal with difficult and confrontational conversations and situations

Strong change management experience and skills, where you aren't afraid (and are expected) to challenge the norm

Experience working with a leadership team, strongly influencing in a partnering approach

Proven ability in establishing and maintaining effective relationships

The role has a fair amount of autonomy and the need to be resilient and influence in a non-enforced manner are key requirements of this role

Responsive to a changeable environment with a flexible and pragmatic approach

Experience of managing projects from start to finish

Significant experience of effectively managing challenging employee relations issues and disputes.

The ability to instil confidence and credibility at all levels when dealing with sensitive and challenging situations.

Constant development of your own technical knowledge by attending workshops, expanding on your professional qualifications and participating in professional networking societies

Language skills: Native/fluent German (fluent written and verbal), English (business-level written and verbal)

Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office packages)
