Interim Group Financial Controller

The Opportunity

This is a newly created role for an experienced Group Financial Controller to join a highly acquisitive private equity-backed broadcasting group. You will be working closely with the CFO to ensure the group’s finance function sits in line with the overall growth strategy of the business.

The CFO needs a strong number 2 to come in and assist with M&A activity – you will need to provide a robust and standardised M&A process moving forward to alleviate day-to-day pressure from the current FC.

Due to the rate of growth in the business, the current Financial Controller cannot develop efficient integration procedures while carrying out their day-to-day BAU responsibilities. Your role will be to alleviate acquisition pressures on the FC for 6 – 9 months and improve these processes.

You will report directly into the CFO and you will be able to pull on various resources within the wider finance team for assistance, potentially hiring interim support where necessary. This is not a business as usual position, and you will be granted significant autonomy to deliver group-wide improvements.

What you will be doing:

  • Assuming responsibility for all DD and integration work, allowing the current FC to focus on the financial BAU activities
  • Working with the PE house and CFO to deliver a standardised M&A process across the group in line with the buy and build strategy (i.e. smoother due diligence, integration and consolidation processes)
  • Assess the need for additional interim support, making hires where necessary. It is likely you will need to train a new hire to support the M&A workload following the completion of your contract
  • Providing ad-hoc support for the CFO / FC

About you:

  • ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified or equivalent
  • Previous experience designing and implementing DD / integration processes within highly acquisitive private equity backed buy and build projects
  • Available within 2 weeks
