About Our Client

Alcohols Limited are an extremely successful independent, privately owned company whose activities include chemical storage, blending and distribution for UK and export markets. In addition, the business has a distilling facility in Birmingham that serves the beverage market. Operating across three sites, the business has attained a strong reputation for product quality and customer service that is delivered to an enviable client portfolio across a broad range of business sectors. The business is entering an exciting phase in their development with a mandate to grow and as a result has created the new role of Operations Director.

Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Director the key responsibilities will include:

  • Operating as a member of the leadership team, take responsibility for the ongoing development and deployment of an operations strategy that will meet the goals of the business
  • Providing leadership to c40 staff across 3 sites in production, supply chain, and logistics teams and ensuring the business attracts, develops and retains key talent
  • Overseeing the day to day management of the production, technical and supply chain functions ensuring the business excels in product quality and customer service
  • Partnering the commercial teams to drive new product development enabling Alcohols Limited to enter new markets and develop new and existing client business opportunities
  • Ensuring the continued promotion of a positive culture to achieve good practice in terms of HSE performance
  • Promoting an environment where teamwork, open communication, continuous improvement and excellent customer service are maintained

The Successful Applicant

Prospective candidates will have a science based degree with a demonstrable track record of success operating in a manufacturing, supply chain environment ideally gained in a chemical related sector. You will have an excellent mix of strategic and operational experience coupled with a technical background that has been developed in a multi-site business. Experience of working cross-functionally, contributing to sales and marketing strategies would be a pre-requisite. Of equal importance are strong leadership skills coupled with an excellent commercial awareness. In addition, you will have outstanding interpersonal skills that will enable you to embrace and drive an open and customer service focused culture in this outstanding business. The role will require frequent travel.
