Job Details

The Kent and Medway health and care system is undergoing an exciting and transformational change that will bring about significant long-term improvements in the health and wellbeing of the population it serves.

Following the unanimous decision of the eight constituent Clinical Commissioning Groups to merge there is a need to appoint to the role of Accountable Officer, Kent and Medway CCG who will also lead our Sustainability and Transformation Partnership. This role represents a rare opportunity for an outstanding leader to drive a complex transformation programme to integrate health and care and develop strategic commissioning across a large, diverse and dispersed population. The appointee will serve as both the Accountable Officer for the Kent and Medway CCGs, which are in the process of merging from eight into one, and as System Leader for Kent and Medway with a mandate to develop an Integrated Care System which will offer tangible and sustainable benefits such as improved healthcare quality and outcomes to our population of 1.8 million people. It is a great time to join building on the strong support and enthusiasm of our GPs, CCG Governing Bodies, Provider Trusts and Upper and Lower tier Local Authorities in Kent and Medway to transform health and social care in Kent and Medway;  delivering more care closer to home,  preventing more illness and addressing health inequalities by adopting a population health focus radical in its scope and ambition.

In taking forward this highly complex and exciting role and agenda as Accountable Officer and System Leader, you will be central to ensuing that we realise our strategic ambition of Quality of Life, Quality of Care to deliver person centred, place-based care, developing the Integrated Care System and newly merged single commissioner. Critical to this will be the establishment of a single executive CCG team and organisational structure, and leading the health and care system in discussions towards an Integrated Care System, driving improvement programmes and the establishment of robust governance systems.

With a dual reporting line to the Chair of the STP and Clinical Chair of the combined CCGs and working with two separate Boards, the new Accountable Officer and System Leader will be required to bring outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills to the role. They will need to demonstrate the proven experience and gravitas to bring together the clinical and professional leadership of our partners to deliver effective transformation across the totality of health and care in Kent and Medway. Regardless of where your track record of success has been gained, you will have experience of establishing corporate and organisational structures, a knowledge and understanding of health or social care and public service systems, and be committed to the integration of health and social care and the delivery of high quality, outcome focused, person centred, coordinated care.

There are few opportunities in the NHS that offer both the scope and scale to impact on a population in such a direct way, and while our system is not without its challenges, we are fortunate to have a high calibre and committed group of clinical and executive leaders and colleagues for you to partner with. If you feel you have the experience, drive and commitment to succeed in this exciting and complex role, and that your values and ambition matches ours, please contact our retained advisors Harvey Nash who would be delighted to explore this further with you.
