European Operations Director

Automotive

West Midlands

c£160,000 - £180,000 plus benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading multi-national Automotive supplier based in the West Midlands area as European Operations Director. This role will be based in one of the UK offices but with elements of international travel and some flexibility around work from home.

The Role

Reporting to the Global VP Operations, as European Operations Director you will have responsibility for multiple UK and international plants in the EU region and will have responsibility for top level strategic management focused around operational performance in both high performing and problem child factories that need business turnaround. Central to your tasks will be ensuring profitability and feasibility of operations so a strong grasp of financial control and P&L analysis is integral. Group launch activity and delivering on time and in full to customer is paramount, this ties in with ensuring the business has optimal customer engagement given long standing and fruitful relationships that exist - commerciality is essential.

The Person

We are looking to recruit an experienced Automotive European Operations Director for our client in the West Midlands area who has operated at Group Operations, Managing Director or Plant Director (multi-site) capacity that can lead, motivate and challenge a team in a highly pressurised, fast paced 1st Tier environment. It is essential that you are from an automotive background experienced in supplying JIT in to an OEM environment.

Candidates without experience of the automotive industry at OEM or Tier 1 level will unfortunately not be considered for this role.

Change management and site turnaround experience is essential and candidates must be open minded to international travel as required. You should have strong financial management and P&L experience in order to ensure profitability of each Plant and the foresight to identify both future business opportunities and loss making functions. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in successful launch activity across multiple platforms. You will be commercially astute and skills managing relationships with demanding OEM customers.

The Company

Our client is a market leading multi-national automotive 1st Tier organisation with a diverse portfolio of products and exceptional reputation in the market. The business has a tall corporate structure which allows for future growth potential should you deliver in the current capacity. Their site is commutable from most areas in the midlands including Birmingham, Coventry, Telford, Wolverhampton, Walsall, south Derbyshire, Staffordshire and local areas. Candidates open to working away from home tempered with international travel are also welcome to apply
