Challenge Director – Industrial Decarbonisation
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) works in partnership with universities, research organisations, businesses, charities and government to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish. We are supported by our innovation arm, Innovate UK, which is responsible for delivering the benefits of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), a core pillar in the government’s £4.7 billion commitment to increase R&D funding and the competitiveness of UK industry in tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
The Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge, announced at the COP24 climate talks and supported by both ISCF and industry funding, will place the UK at the forefront of the global shift towards reducing and eliminating emissions. We are seeking a Challenge Director to lead this programme, working in close partnership with government, academia and industry to accelerate cost-effective decarbonisation of industry and boost the development of low-carbon technologies. He or she will bring relevant industry expertise, a compelling vision for the future, and a proven track record of delivering large-scale projects. Given this is a field-based role, the ability to lead dispersed teams and to champion the programme with diverse public-sector and industry stakeholders is essential.
