Chief Financial Officer

“....capital gain opportunity in rapidly evolving market....”

M1 Corridor (flexible)

circa £120,000 + equity + benefits

Are you ambitious FC seeking their first CFO mandate, or perhaps a seasoned CFO disillusioned with the broken promises of large corporates? Our client presents a unique proposition as they embark on an exciting new venture. Their market is counter-cycler, fragmented yet under-provided for in the wake of a demographic time bomb. With significant capital underpinning a highly entrepreneurial CEO, the business is well positioned to take advantage of these sector dynamics. Their strategy is classic buy & build – a platform deal supplemented by further M&A and an ambitious new build program to meet market demand. Naturally as part of this strategic plan, they seek to strengthen the senior management with a high calibre CFO who can guide the business through this critical period of evolution.

Partnering the CEO, your immediate responsibility is to develop a finance dept that is ‘fit for purpose’ for the journey ahead – so that’s analysis of the existing functional capability and formulating a plan for the further development of people, processes and systems in support of the strategic goals. Functionally the brief covers the usual mix of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, financial & performance monitoring, pricing and purchasing, working capital management and maintaining tight control across the business; you will also play a key role in future growth of the business by undertaking appraisals of turnkey and greenfield opportunity alongside bespoke M&A and leading on refinancing to support expansion. The role also challenges you to extend your relationship focus beyond the leadership of your own financial function – internally that’s all about supporting the board, operational peers and managers with insightful financial guidance; whilst externally the remit centres on liaison with banks, investors and intermediaries.

This is a dynamic executive role requiring a commercially focused qualified accountant with real gravitas. A finance partner embedded into the commercial operation of the business, who can evidence the implementation of intelligent processes and systems that deliver meaningful and trustworthy MI/reporting that provide reassurance to the boardroom and guidance to operations. It should appeal to established functional leaders who enjoy the granularity of hands-on management within a ‘lean team’ culture that have supported the complex requirements of an investment backed business in growth mode. Given the pace and multi-faceted nature of a blended growth strategy of new build situations and M&A, the role seeks people who can demonstrate an outstanding skillset suite in this area. In particular we welcome candidates from multi-site asset backed operational businesses - hotels, leisure, care sectors are all relevant.
