An opportunity has arisen at an acute NHS Trust in the East of England for an experienced and forward thinking interim Deputy Director of Finance to join the department.
Working very closely with the Chief Finance Officer, this position has oversight of key parts of the finance function including financial management and business partnering, and will be responsible for managing a significant proportion of the finance department. This means ensuring that the team discharges its obligations and provides sound decision support and financial guidance to the business amongst other things. The post holder will be expected to use leadership, technical, analytical, presentational, inter-personal and negotiating skills and develop effective working relationships with a range of colleagues and contacts. You will be joining the Trust as they go through a period of significant change and development.
The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience of managing a broad finance team. You must have a full understanding of the NHS financial regime and should have experience of working in an acute healthcare environment – preferably in the Deputy Director of Finance position. You will be comfortable working alongside board members, managing auditor relationships and taking responsibility for financial decisions. Excellent communication skills will be essential.
This all round position will see you deputising for the CFO at board level, exercising delegated authority, and covering other meetings as and when appropriate in addition to being responsible for the development of the finance team. As such, it should prove to be a challenging and rewarding opportunity.
