About us
Our work as the UK’s privacy and information rights regulator has never been more important.
The arrival of the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK Data Protection Act, means huge change for the regulator and we are currently strengthening and expanding our team to meet our new obligations and provide excellent public services under our increased regulatory remit.
About the role
We are currently recruiting a senior policy role in our Parliamentary and Government Affairs team.
This is an exciting time to join the ICO and work in a role which is central to influencing and shaping the information rights landscape. The post is responsible for managing Parliamentary and Government Affairs for the ICO in Westminster. It will also play a broader role helping to lead the ICO policy profession and network.
The role is responsible for critically important activities such as:
- Developing, implementing and leading effective strategies for the delivery of specific objectives underpinning the ICO corporate plan, the information rights strategy and other corporate strategies
- Providing effective leadership to colleagues in their area
- Building effective relationships with key stakeholders and influencers in order to drive change and further the ICO’s information rights objectives
- Participating on behalf of the Commissioner/ICO at meetings and events and take part in media activity where senior representation is required.
- Seeking continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility, especially on excellence in service delivery
About you
You will be a senior policy professional with substantial experience of successfully leading and implementing policy initiatives, as well as excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills. Knowledge of the democratic and political framework around Westminster and Whitehall will also be vital.
You will also have experience of leading and managing people, identifying and exploiting ideas around continuous improvement and change.
Existing knowledge of data protection and/or Freedom of information legislation would be helpful but is not essential.
