Exceptional opportunity with a global packaging leader.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a tenacious Commercial Manager to join Smurfit Kappa, a FTSE100 world-leader in paper-based packaging and the European leader in containerboard, solid board and corrugated packaging. The Yate site is a high volume, corrugated manufacturing plant which, having recently attracted £multi-million investment, is now entering an exciting stage of development, resulting in increased product complexity, higher added value and further growth opportunities with a major, blue-chip customer base.

Reporting to the General Manager and forming part of the senior management team, the Commercial Manager will manage and oversee all commercial aspects of the sales function, analyzing well-developed, order costing and business intelligence, data capture systems in order to identify and deliver ambitious growth and margin improvement targets.

With responsibility for a Commercial Analyst, the Commercial Manager will manage and develop Yate’s commercial business framework to cover local pricing, site tenders as well as supporting National, major National Account and Pan European tenders. Providing proactive, strong and well-composed commercial support to the sales teams, the Commercial Manager will track customer order activity and utilize post costing systems to identify opportunities to improve customer profitability.

He/she will assist and support the development of pricing, revenue and budget forecasting as well as working closely with all key internal departments; Finance, Design and  Operations, to identify opportunities for cost reduction and margin enhancement, while making recommendations to optimize work mix.

Candidates will be degree qualified with strong commercial and financial acumen and understanding of the end to end sales processes, including pricing. Relevant commercial or financial management experience in corrugated/packaging, or a similar, fast-paced, fmcg/manufacturing environment would be advantageous. Goal oriented, highly numerate, with energy and focus on improving profits, candidates must be experienced, persuasive and confident communicators.

There are excellent opportunities for future progression within this Global Group.
