The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the estate expert for Defence, supporting the armed forces to enable military capability by planning, building, maintaining, and servicing infrastructure. DIO enables Defence people to live, work, train and deploy at home and overseas. As one of the largest landowners in the UK (c.2% of UK landmass), we manage assets worth c£30bn, with an annual investment of £3.5bn. Our key enabling functions, finance, commercial, people, and corporate services are all critical to supporting the delivery of DIO’s customer capability needs.

Reporting to and working closely with the DIO Chief Executive, Graham Dalton, the Director, Corporate Services will need to have personal credibility to build effective working relationship across Defence and wider Government at the highest level and provide leadership within the DIO. You will be accountable for taking decisions on behalf of the organisation and advising them on the largest and most complex political and corporate issues. DIO is entering the third and by far the biggest phase of an ambitious change programme. As Director, Corporate Services, you will also be responsible for leading a major strand of that change – bringing DIO’s corporate and professional capabilities to the best in Government.

As a full member of the DIO Executive Committee, you will support the CEO in the delivery of objectives by providing a strategic perspective on workforce issues and ensure we are attracting and retaining talented individuals and investing in our staff. You will work with, and be supported by a talented pool of people, and you need to be passionate about developing the potential of others to deliver a first-class service.

With a bigger budget, more people, and a broader range of services than most businesses in this sector, DIO is an interesting and dynamic place to work, with an excellent set of colleagues providing a great blend of skills, experience and expertise and sharing the aspiration of making DIO a place where employees are proud to work.
