Job Details

Beverley Building Society was founded in 1866 and is one of the UK's oldest established societies.  With a record of over 150 years of business, the Society is a major financial institution in the town and has served generations in the local community. Today, the Society concentrates on its core services of mortgages and savings and helping to build better futures for the people living within its regional heartland. It prides itself on providing professional, friendly customer care and a personal underwriting service, which supports local people to buy their own homes when they otherwise may have been unable to secure a mortgage in the mainstream market. The Society primarily serves the East Riding of Yorkshire & Hull, with almost 90% of savings customers and over 60% of mortgage customers living in the region, although its mortgage and savings products are available nationally.

The Board is seeking to appoint a NED who will provide future succession planning for the Chair of Risk Committee. They will demonstrate capability and understanding of board governance, assurance, accountability, fiduciary responsibility and working with and through an experienced Executive team. Candidates will have a background in Risk gained within financial services, combining the capability to support the Society as it develops its lending propositions with a good understanding of the regulatory environment and management of Credit Risk. Equally important, the candidate must be wholly aligned to the Society’s strategic ambitions and values, and be able to bring passion, energy and commercial insight to the work of the Board, making a broad strategic contribution across the whole Board agenda. Consideration will be made for this being an individual’s first NED appointment subject to demonstrating the required experience gained within a sufficiently large organisation.

The successful candidate will have strength of character, balanced with pragmatism and above all be excited by both the challenge and the opportunity to create a sustainable future for the Society and its members.

The Chair of Risk appointment will be subject to PRA/FCA approval and candidates should either already be approved or have the gravitas, experience and understanding of the UK regulatory environment to be so.

Please submit a short covering letter demonstrating how you meet the requirements of this role by clicking "Apply" with your CV quoting reference number: JAFF6030 Tel: 0845 261 0600

All third party and direct applications will be forwarded to Warren Partners.
