Marie Curie is one of the UK’s most loved and respected charities. Over the last 70 years they have provided care and support to people who are in the last chapter of their lives, and their families and loved ones and are immensely proud of support they offer.

However, Marie Curie know that there are many other people who do not get the support and care they need and deserve at the end of life. Further, the UK population is rapidly aging; by 2033, there will be 7.2 million people aged 75 and over in England alone, and 1.2 million aged over 90. This means there will be more people living with a combination of multiple conditions, making their end of life care even more complex.

Marie Curie is therefore developing a new strategic approach which will guide them for the coming years. Their vision is to lead change at a systems level, through partnerships and innovation, and shape how our society thinks and talks about dying and end of life care, as well as working directly with beneficiaries as an exemplary provider of services.

This new role of Executive Director of People and Organisational Development will be a key component of this strategic approach and the post holder will play a leading role with the rest of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in fulfilling our strategic aspirations, owning significant aspects of a change programme impacting and releasing the potential in 4500 paid colleagues and 10,000 volunteers.
